There are a number of extra curricular opportunities for learners at Freemans Bay School. Information about activities is included in our school newsletters which come out fortnightly, as the activities become available.

Freemans Bay School Sports Teams

These teams play their games away from school, so require transportation to and from the venue.  These teams also require parent supervision, or parent managers and/or coaches.  We can arrange to share transportation from the school to the venue with other team members, if transportation is an issue.

 Cricket Skills programme with Grafton Cricket Club (Term 3) 

  • Thursday sessions after school: 3:15 – 4:15pm
  • 6 week programme starting Week 4 (August 19th) through to September 23rd (with a wet-day option for the 30th, if needed)
  • Cost: $25
  • New Entrants – Yr 6 (Minimum of 10 students per session for classes to start) 

 

This cricket skills programme is for both those new to cricket and for those looking to be taught and practise basic cricket skills that will help develop their game.  It is delivered in partnership with Grafton Cricket Club and will be held at Freemans Bay School.  All equipment will be provided.

Skills of Soccer with Billy Harris

Billy is a full time soccer coach and ex-All White player, and is returning to Freemans Bay School with his lunchtime soccer programme in 2021.  The class is for boys and girls – whether they’re beginners or hotshots.  The class is good for co-ordination, confidence and ball skills, and is designed to give every child lots of touches and be heaps of fun.  The cost is $75 for 10 weeks, beginning 4th May until 6th July.   See Billy’s website: www.billyharris.co.nz

 Private Music Lessons

Rope Skipping with Po Kwok (Term 2)

Thursday lunchtimes starting in Week 2 (13th May) through to the end of term
Year 4 – 6 students (minimum of 12 students for classes to start) 

Po has a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and Sports Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a certified rope skipping coach from the Hong Kong Rope Skipping Association. In the programme the kids can learn some fun jump rope tricks for individuals, pairs and in group long rope. it is definitely a great sports for developing coordination, agility and stamina. Rope skipping requires very simple equipment; all you need is just a rope, and a pair of sport shoes.

Cost is $40 for 8 weeks – an additional cost of $10 applies for your own beaded rope, especially made for jump rope with tricks.  Please complete this form to enroll:  Term2 Rope Skipping Years 4 – 6 

Volley Ball with Po Kwok (Term 2)

Po has a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and Sports Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a member of the Auckland All Stars Volleyball Club.  The class is for boys and girls – whether they are beginners or pros.  The class is great for developing quick reflexes, hand-eye coordination and jumping.  Po will familiarize students in the fundamental skills of volleyball with lots of fun activities.

Auckland Rugby League Game Changers After School Sports Programme (Term 2)  

Thursday afternoons from 3:15 – 4:15pm starting in Week 2 (13th May).  This programme runs for 6 weeks.

New Entrants – Year 6 students (minimum of 15 students for classes to start)

Game Changers is a non-contact sports programme that incorporates a wide variety of sports and is designed to give young people the opportunity to experience outdoor activities through enjoyable games.  The Auckland Rugby League Development Team will be delivering sessions that are structured around fun and inclusiveness. Auckland Rugby League would like to confirm that all children are invited, regardless of playing and sporting ability.

Playball is a specialised sports and movement programme which makes learning sport easy and fun while covering a range of different sports skills including: throwing, jumping, catching and all round coordination. Playball is an introduction to 8 different sports: Football, Basketball, Netball, Cricket, Baseball, Tennis, Hockey and Rugby.
